The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator course is a recognised route for anyone looking to get into network support. Whether you want to get started in the industry or are experienced already but need to improve your CV with certification, it's possible to achieve your goals with the right training. Each of these categories needs a different solution, so pay attention that you're on the right one when making a start. Search for a company that takes the time to get to know you, and what you hope to do, and is able to make available enough information to make your decision.

Have a conversation with any specialised advisor and we'd be amazed if they couldn't provide you with many awful tales of students who've been conned by dodgy salespeople. Make sure you deal with someone who asks some in-depth questions to find out what's appropriate to you - not for their pay-packet! You need to find an ideal starting-point that fits you. With a strong background, or maybe some work-based experience (possibly even some previous certification?) then it could be that your starting level will be very different from a student that is completely new to the industry. If you're a student starting IT studies and exams for the first time, you might like to ease in gradually, kicking off with some basic Microsoft package and Windows skills first. This can easily be incorporated into most types of training.

You should only consider training courses that lead to commercially acknowledged accreditations. There are way too many small companies proposing minor 'in-house' certificates which will prove unusable in the real world. Unless your qualification is issued by a conglomerate such as Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA or Adobe, then chances are it will be commercially useless - because it won't give an employer any directly-useable skills.
